Proper infection control practices should be employed with the PushBackVac®.
The first step is to properly rinse and clean debris from the suction. Use of a properly sized bottle brush can be used as well as pipe cleaners for the curved section.
Polycarbonate may be autoclaved.
The melting point for this material is above the temperature recommended for autoclaving. However, over time, heat will cause the PushBackVac® to become more brittle and lead to breakage during placement or removal.
Polycarbonate is resistant to chemicals used in sterilization and can be cold sterilized using this method.
Follow manufacturer’s instructions for this procedure and be sure to allow sufficient time for the chemicals to work. Store in a protected place after sterilization until used.

"I can’t tell you how much I depend on the PushBackVac™ in my office. If I am starting operative work on the lower arch, opposite side I insist on using this suction. It makes things so much easier and safe to work that I never go without it. The PushBackVac™ is one of those MUST HAVE products in my office. My advice? Never go without it - so make sure you have enough of them! My staff finds them absolutely indispensable." ~ Dr JS, Liverpool, NY
